Rendered from local suet. Traceable sourcing. No bleaching, no chemical deodorizing. Two product lines built for different uses.
We sell tallow. We also think the sourcing and honesty standards in this industry are low, and we're trying to change that.
Written from inside a processing environment, this piece breaks down why common sourcing claims in the tallow space are often weaker than they sound — and why standards, handling, and honesty matter more than slogans.

View Cooking TallowWe start with Texas beef fat selected with end use in mind. Not anonymous commodity input sourced through a broker. The material is the foundation. Everything else follows from there.
Cooking tallow is dry rendered — when fat goes into your body, you want the full profile intact. Formulation tallow is wet rendered — water-soluble compounds don’t penetrate skin, so nothing meaningful is lost. Method matched to use. We tell you which is which.
Filtered for clarity, texture, and stability. The goal is a usable product for the intended purpose, not the appearance of quality. Both lines are finished to different standards because they’re used differently.
No bleaching. No chemical deodorizing. No synthetic antioxidant additives compensating for nutrients stripped out upstream. The color and aroma of our tallow reflect what was actually in the fat.
We would rather explain what our tallow is — and isn’t — than let a buzzword carry the argument. Ask us about sourcing, process, or any claim on this site. We’ll give you a straight answer.
A good label tells you very little on its own. What matters is the material, the handling, the rendering discipline, and the filtration.
Suet sourced from local Texas cattle, selected for quality before rendering begins.
Trimmed and prepared for rendering. Handling at this stage affects the final product.
Wet rendered at controlled temperatures. Temperature management and suet quality determine the result.
Filtered, set, and produced to a consistent finish for the intended use.
Ron Jimenez spent time around cattle and inside processing environments before he started this operation. He saw how tallow products get made and how they get marketed. Those two things don’t always match. Ranch Hand Rendering is built in Central Texas on the premise that they should — and that most of what passes for “premium” doesn’t survive basic scrutiny.

The suet we source comes from Texas cattle. We’ve also written at length about why “grass-fed and finished” claims are often weaker than they sound — so we won’t use that language to avoid the question. Ask us about current sourcing when you inquire.
Formulation tallow is produced with texture consistency and a low-aroma finish in mind — intended for skincare, balms, soap, and cosmetic applications. Cooking tallow is filtered for pantry use and cooking performance. Cooking tallow is dry rendered; formulation tallow is wet rendered. The differences go beyond filtration — the rendering method is matched to how each product is used.
Depends on the product. Cooking tallow is dry rendered — when fat goes into your body, you want everything the original material has: fatty acid profile, fat-soluble vitamins, all of it. Dry rendering keeps that intact. Formulation tallow is wet rendered — water-soluble compounds aren’t bioavailable through skin anyway, so nothing meaningful is lost, and wet rendering suits the cosmetic application. Method matched to use. Most producers won’t tell you this. We will.
Yes — sample inquiries are welcome for both product lines. Use the contact form and tell us your use case.
Both lines have a mild, natural beef aroma — clean and low-intensity. We don’t use chemical deodorizers. The tallow is not odorless, but it is not heavy or off-putting. Most customers who've had tallow from unfiltered or poorly handled sources find ours notably cleaner.
We’re primarily a local operation based in Central Texas. Local pickup and delivery are available. Shipping is offered in limited cases — please inquire.
